The Coalition will act as a positive pro-homeopathy choice group. It will defend and promote homeopathy in Quebec hereby preserving and maintaining patients’, citizens, and health practitioners’, individual rights to freedom of choice.
Our mission
To become the voice of reference for the defense and promotion of homeopathy in Quebec and the preservation and upholding of an individual’s freedom of choice for those seeking a different approach to healthcare and self-care.
A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
Montreal, April 9, 2020, On May 2019, the first foundations for bringing together the driving forces of homeopathy in Quebec were laid. Practitioners, patients and manufacturers, under the initiative of the Syndicat professionnel des homéopathes du Québec (SPHQ), were on their way to the official announcement of the formation of the Quebec Coalition for Homeopathy (QCFH) on November 19, 2020.
In January 2020, I agreed to take over the presidency of this coalition, with more than five years of experience at the helm of the Syndicat professionnel des homéopathes du Québec (SPHQ) and four years at the Canadian Homeopathic Association (CHA) as founder and director.
Upon my arrival as president of the SPHQ in 2014, my vision was clear and remains the same today as president of the QCFH: to address misinformation. And it is this same vision that is now embodied in the mission of the coalition, that of being the voice of reference to defend and promote homeopathy in Quebec by, among other things, rectifying incorrect andr false information on homeopathy and offering, in return, truthful and verifiable information.
With this in mind, and on the occasion of International Homeopathy Day, which will be celebrated on April 10, I therefore join with all my colleagues, hundreds of thousands of them around the world, in reminding you that 2019 will have been the year in which, thanks to sustained public and political pressure, the whole world will finally have had access to the encouraging scientific conclusions of the 2012 Australian report on the effectiveness of homeopathy, conclusions that were deliberately concealed by the Australian medical and scientific agency responsible for evaluating it.
We also welcome the clarification by the current director of the Australian agency, Professor Anne Kelso, that the fraudulent 2015 report, which is still under investigation, did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective. Finally, in spite of the delisting in France, we would also like to recall the fact that Germany and Luxembourg have decided to maintain reimbursement.
As of April 1 of this year, the enactment of the Order of Homeopaths of Ontario was already on its fifth anniversary, and I would also like to reiterate the importance of the legal recognition of the profession in Quebec. This objective, enshrined in SPHQ’s bylaws, is also in keeping with the coalition’s vision, which sees the importance of legitimizing homeopathy, an essential issue in preserving the freedom of choice of all those wishing a different way to care and self-care.
I would like to conclude by warmly thanking all the members of the coalition for their support and involvement. It is in unity that we will all succeed in maximizing the strength of our actions and our impact so that homeopathy can take its rightful place at the service of the health of the people of Quebec.
Paul Labrèche, homeopath,
President of the Quebec Coalition for Homeopathy (QCFH)
President of the Syndicat professionnel des homéopathes du Québec (SPHQ
